BiographyProfessor Parveen Yaqoob graduated with a BA in Physiological Sciences and subsequently a DPhil in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford. She has been working in the area of diet, immunity and inflammation for 28 years and has been based at the University of Reading since 1998. She was recently appointed Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research & Innovation, responsible for the University’s research strategy at Executive Board level, and positioning the University of Reading amongst the leading research universities in the UK and internationally. She has specific expertise in running human trials combined with detailed mechanistic cell function studies. She has particular interest in the effects of dietary fatty acids and pre- and probiotics on immune function, and in the effects of dietary fatty acids on inflammation and vascular function in the context of cardiovascular disease.
